Emergency Medical Services and Post Arrest Care
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a condition when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating, causing blood to stop flowing to the brain and other organs. SCA can happen to anyone at any time, regardless of age and fitness level. It usually occurs without warning and is often fatal even with fast ambulance services.
Bystanders play an important role in increasing the survival rate of a cardiac victim through a system known as the Chain of Survival - Early Recognition and Access, Early CPR, Early Defibrillation, Emergency Medical Services and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Do your part by completing the first 3 steps of the Chain.
