Hypertension and COVID-19

Blood Pressure Initiative @ Schools Programme

COVID-19 has affected the lives of many people worldwide especially those with pre-existing medical conditions. High blood pressure (HBP) affects slightly less than 1 in 4 adults in Singapore. An article from The Straits Times on 31 May 2020 reported “Patients with HBP are more likely to develop severe symptoms and are at higher risk of complications from COVID-19”. Healthy blood pressure (BP) begins with the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits from young. We hope to empower our next generation with the essential knowledge and skill to make better lifestyle choices. BP Initiative @ Schools is a fully sponsored programme designed for upper primary students which aims to inculcate in students the importance of optimal BP reading and to motivate behavioural changes towards better heart health.

Programme Highlight

  • Hands-on session for each student to learn and measure their BP.
  • Each student will bring home a BP monitor for one day to share and apply what they have learned with their family members.

The BP Initiative @ Schools programme is FREE! Slots are limited and based on a first come, first served basis. School administrators can book your preferred dates by filling up this Registration Form.
